Literati Kids x Macy Gilson Part One

As a speech language pathologist, it’s no surprise how much I value language and literacy. I’ve had a passion for reading ever since I can remember and I can often be caught in the middle of one (or two or three) books! I began building my children’s book library when I was in graduate school pursuing a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders. I quickly figured out that not only are books fundamental to learning, but they also make wonderful activities for speech therapy. I incorporate books into my lesson plans on a daily basis, and my children’s book library has grown to reflect that, so I was beyond thrilled when Literati reached out to invite me to become an ambassador.

If you aren’t familiar with Literati, it is a monthly children’s book subscription and is thoughtfully curated by experts to deliver age and developmentally appropriate books to your child. Literati is designed with a try-before-you-buy philosophy, meaning you have the freedom to read all of the books in your box, without any pressure to buy them. As I’ve learned from my elementary students, what one student loves, another is sure to dislike and what my students love, doesn’t guarantee the same admiration from me! This can also be said for children within the same household – what your Kindergartner can’t put down might be the book that your second grader is tired of reading! Here’s how it works: You sign your child up to receive a box based on their age (newborn – teen) and Literati hand picks five books for your child. You receive your box in the mail and it just might feel like Christmas morning! Once your child has read and explored their books, you get to choose which books you’d like to purchase. You can choose to keep all five, you can choose to send them all back, or you can select a few from each box. If you choose to send any books back, you simply put them back in the box, use the provided tape to seal and attach the prepaid postage label for USPS pick up. As I mentioned, Literati is created for newborns all the way to teenagers, so there is a book club for everyone!

Literati Clubs

Club Neo: little bookworms (newborn-3 years)
Club Sprout: preschool (3-5 years)
Club Nova: early elementary (5-7 years)
Club Sage: middle elementary (7-9 years)
Club Phoenix: late elementary/middle (9-12 years)
Club Titan: high school/young adult (13+)

I chose Club Sprout because some of my most favorite children’s books are preschool level, so I was excited to add more to my bookshelf! Not only did I receive the five books included in my subscription, but Literati also sends fun surprises with each box! I received a collectible art poster, custom name stickers for the books I am keeping, and a personalized postcard!

I’m so excited to share these books with my students and I have already found creative ways to use them in my speech therapy sessions. I can’t wait for next month’s box, and if you’re interested in an April box, too, you can click HERE to receive 25% off your first box!
